A Prayer for Our Nation

“First of all, then, I urge that entreaties and prayers, petitions and thanksgivings, be made on behalf of all men, for kings and all who are in authority, so that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and dignity.” ~ 1 Timothy 2:1-2 (NASB)

Dear Lord,

The American people have elected the person who will lead our country for the next four years. We ask You to place Your hand of blessing, guidance and protection on him. Lead him in the way of righteousness and truth. Turn his heart – and the heart of many others – towards You.

For over 200 years our nation has been a beacon of liberty and hope to people yearning to be free. We are a nation at the crossroads. The problems we face are many and formidable, but nothing is impossible with You.

Restore the guiding principles of the Declaration of Independence and Constitution to their rightful place as the foundation of our nation. May we once again be a nation that is united, rather than divided by internal strife.

We look to You as the only Hope for true freedom and personal salvation. May You be honored and glorified by the actions and decisions of our President, and most especially of your Church, in the next four years.

We pray these things in the Name of Jesus Christ.

Amen
