Quotations that Connect

This is a very different post. I’m out of town without access to my computer. So I’m writing it out on my iPhone. The content will be brief, and I hope useful. I love quotations.

To me there’s something special in coming across a quote that captures the essence of a particular topic. So listed below are some quotes that are meaningful to me.

I apologize in advance for any misquotes as I’m writing them from memory. There’s no significance to the order of the quotes as I’m writing them down as I think of them.

“The unexamined life is not worth living.” [Cicero]

“Always do right. This will gratify some – and astonish the rest.” [Mark Twain]

“If you don’t know where you’re going, any road will get you there.” [Unknown]

“Everything I am, I owe to my mother.” [Abraham Lincoln]

“Leadership is getting other people to do what you want them to do – and like it.” [Harry S Truman]

“If not now, when? If not you, who?” [Unknown]

“Some men see things as they are and ask ‘Why?’ I dream of things that never were and as, ‘Why not'” [George Bernard Shaw]

“What do you love to do so much that you’d do it without pay?” [Bob Buford]

“You can never wash the dust of Africa from your feet.” [African proverb]

“Your ‘walk’ talks, and your ‘talk’ talks; but your ‘walk’ talks more than your ‘talk’ talks.” [Unknown]

“Only those who have known great sorrow can know great love.” [Unknown]

“You often know what you don’t want to know.” [Unknown]

I hope one or more of these quotes caught your attention. If so, memorize it and use in your conversations as appropriate.
