Beginning to Sink, Part 2

You know the story. Jesus walked on the water towards the disciples who were in a boat during a storm. At first the disciples thought they were seeing a ghost. But they recognized Jesus’ voice telling them, “Take courage! It is I. Don’t be afraid.”

“Lord, if it’s you,” Peter replied, “tell me to come to you on the water.” And Jesus replies, “Come.” Incredibly, Peter gets out of the boat and starts walking on the water towards Jesus.

What a terrific story – if it ended there. But it continues, “Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus. But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, ‘Lord, save me!’” Immediately Jesus took hold of Peter’s hand to rescue him.

In my last post I wrote, “I really could use your help because I’m “beginning to sink.” If after reading this entry you have a suggestion or comment, please share it below. Right now, I’m looking for any ideas you can give me.”

At the end of the post I repeated, “Brothers and sisters, I’m beginning to sink. And I have only one word in response – H-E-L-P! I’m open to your ideas, encouragement, and insight. In advance, I thank you.”

I know that almost 400 people read that blog entry. Unfortunately, not one person replied.

This post is not to shame or blame anyone. We all have busy lives. But we also know the story of the Good Samaritan. A man was on his way to Jerusalem when robbers beat him, stripped him of his clothes and left him in the road half-dead. A priest happened by, and decided to walk on the other side of the road rather than assist the beaten man. A Levite came along and did the same thing. Then a Samaritan man came by and went out of his way to help the victim.

If you read my post, which person are you in the story?

Please go back and read the post “Beginning to Sink, Part 1.” In the “Leave A Reply” section below please send me suggestion, idea or word of encouragement. Like Peter, I’m beginning to sink. Like Jesus, reach out a hand to help.
